Irv Lawless, Historian & Archivist
Irv Lawless is the President and Tonal Director of Lawless and Associates Pipe Organ Company, Ltd. Irv brings 45 years of experience and knowledge to the company. His first training was with Lewis & Hitchcock, under Mr. Ted Lewis and William Hitchcock. Later he worked with the AEolian-Skinner Organ Company doing installations and tonal finishing. This included the 4/104 at the National Presbyterian Church and the Kennedy Center Concert Hall both in Washington DC. At the close of AEolian-Skinner in 1972 he started his own firm in the Washington DC area where they had jobs from Interlochen Michigan to Bermuda. In 1987 Irv accepted a position with M.P. Möller Company in Hagerstown MD, eventually working up to Tonal Manager and Assistant Vice President. At the close of Möller in 1992, the current company was formed; starting with the completion of contracts defaulted on by Möller. Irv goes on service visits and installations as well as maintaining the business operations. He has also been Organ Curator at the Kennedy Center since its opening in 1972. Irv is a member of the American Institute of Organbuilders (AIO) and American Guild of Organists (AGO).
